Destination Lake City (DLC) was started by a group of concerned citizens during the early summer of 2014. It evolved into a membership group of approximately 50 people who share their love, enthusiasm and commitment for Lake City and the City’s healthy growth and development. It became a 501(c)3 in early 2015 and adopted the name ‘Destination Lake City’ at that time.
Our Mission: To work with city stakeholders to make Lake City a better place to live, work, play, and visit.
We are proud about our members’ active, energetic and creative approaches to identifying issues and opportunities and then seeking solutions through practical and realistic planning and implementation. DLC members are currently working on committees that address projects in three key area (Lake Pepin Interpretive Centre, Waterfront Development, and Downtown Development) along with the development of a Splash Pad, Waterski Sculpture and Wellness Resort and Spa. Other committees work on marketing, and identifying funding opportunities.
The DLC has evolved into an advocacy group which identifies opportunities, spins off projects, and then lobbies the city for action.
